Public Speaking Opportunities at City Council Meetings
Not all City Council meetings allow public speakers. Here's how it works:
Regular meetings include a public forum where residents can address the council directly on specific issues.
Public hearings (both standard and quasi-judicial) allow public comment on specific agenda items.
Work sessions are open to the public for viewing but do not include a public forum portion.
Special meetings may or may not include public comment opportunities depending on their purpose.
To speak at a public forum or hearing, you must sign up in advance through the City Clerk by registering at FayettevilleNC.gov/Clerk, calling 910-433-1989, or emailing CityClerk@FayettevilleNC.gov by 5 p.m. the day of the meeting.
